Spring is on its way and I hope everyone finished lots of projects this winter. We are gearing up for our annual Easter Egg Hunt and the Shop Rally this quarter. Come and join us at our Open House on March 5th and check out our class samples. We are going to help the Christmas in Action organization. They do home repair projects for seniors and the disabled. I have been blessed to participate in the renovation of an upstairs apartment that turned out to belong to a long time friend of the family that had always done for us – what a joy to help them! Did you know a fantastic group of ladies meet once a month at QE to make recovery bags for local Cancer patients? They need your help! You don’t even need to know how to sew! Anyone is welcome to help out with this great cause! Ask for details.

SHOP RALLY

April 30^th – May 3^rd

The Spring Rally is coming and now is the time to plan your trip! Our theme this year is “Springtime in Virginia” so grab your friends and join us (and save on gas!). Fun and prizes are in store along the way plus you get a free pattern for each block of our group quilt – no appliqué!! Pick up your license and directions at the first shop and make sure to get it punched at each shop you visit. Turn in your completed license and you are in the running for LOTS of prizes. HUGE thanks to Joan Savage for designing our block and creating our version of the Rally Quilt! Check out our website and flyer for all the details.

JELLY ROLL QUILT CLUB

We have heard of some interest in a Jelly Roll/Charm Square club! We are working out the details and would like your input. If you have any ideas, please contact Carol on Wednesday, Thursday or Friday and let us know what you think or if you would be interested!

SPRING QE CHALLENGE

We had such great fun with our Fall fabric challenge, we thought we would try another one! You all had such great ideas last time I want to try a little something different. Register for $5.00 and receive a fat 8 pack of fabric (they will all be the same). Create a 12 ½” block using just those fabrics. Turn in the block and your instructions by Monday, June 1^st. We will let our Open House customers choose their favorites. The top 12 blocks will make up our next block of the month program - the only one like it!! You will be published! Gift certificates will be awarded to the top three favorites, amounts depending on participation so get your friends to play!

Block of the Quarter update (BOQ):

Our Summer BOQ will be available March 1^st! If you did not participate in the Spring BOQ, you can still join us for the Summer wall hanging. Bring your completed top and included backing to our BOQ class in September and you don’t have to pay! In the class, you will quilt and bind this project. If you completed the Spring BOQ, we will include your batting this time as a bonus for completing two BOQ’s successfully! (There’s still time to grab your Spring BOQ and get it done but there’s not many left so hurry!

DEMO DAY: Thanks to Jennifer Elder for sharing her favorite notions with us on the fourth Saturday from 10:30 – 11:00 in January. Faye Madonia and Judy Austin have provided us with some great suggestions coming up! If you have a notion that you would like to demo yourself or would like to see how it works, let us know. We will be showing you how to use that great yo-yo maker soon!
